Giving Events and Opportunities

1. AUCTION on November 21, 2009

This year we will hold our Fundraiser Party Auction on November 21 at the Domenico Winery in San Carlos. You should all have received the “Save-the-date” card by now. It is a gala event that features fine food, dancing, and terrific auction items—many of them one-of-a-kind—that have been generously contributed by GAIS families, and many other supporters from the Bay Area and beyond. It's a great chance to dress up, socialize, and help support the programs at GAIS. Each family will be asked to provide one item or service for the auction. We want to make giving as easy as possible for you, that’s why we are going to send out “giving ideas” via “Jooners” (to be sent out by the end of September).

Please come and join us for a great evening and also spread the word to friends and family.

2. ANNUAL GIVING - December 2009 - March 2010

This fund is supported by voluntary tax-deductible contributions, allowing each family to give based on its ability. Our goal is to have 100% participation from the immediate GAIS community because strong participation in the Annual Fund often positively influences contributions from foundations and corporations. This means that it is more important that you give than how much you give.

Due to tax reasons we will start the drive in December 2009, but will give it our full attention in March 2010. More information will follow at the end of November.

3. Online Auction “Item of the Month”

As you might have seen we auctioned off one parking spot in September. For the rest of the school year we will come up with an extraordinary monthly auction item. Please look forward to our monthly email announcements.

4. Employer Matching Gifts

Double or even triple the impact of your donation to The German American International School by participating in your employer's matching gift program.

Many employers will match your charitable contribution to The German American International School with an equal or higher amount if you are an employee, retiree, or board member of a company, or if your spouse is. The German American International School is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, an important qualification for many companies' matching gifts programs.

Check to see if your company has a matching gifts program. If so, please request a matching gift form from your employer and send it completed and signed with your gift to our business manager Susi Lindley, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
